About Me

Aviemore cloud inversion

Ex-manager of a mountain sports store who realised there’s more to life than the 9 to 5

Obsessed with running & a love for the outdoors & photography.

Still recovering from the after-effects of prostate cancer. Running is finally starting to click into place again, I am hoping I’ll be able to get back to long-distance runs in the near future, though at the moment I’m just glad to be getting consistent runs in again!

Now the running buyer for an outdoor store & freelance videographer & photographer. It’s never too late to change profession & do what you enjoy 🙂

Running history

  • ‘I started running with my 40th birthday a few weeks off. The Grantown 10k was coming up, could I run 10k? I hadn’t ran since school, so a few weeks of training & a slow, hot, messy 10k accomplished, life had changed forever’

  • A few 10k’s later, then a 1/2 marathon or two & an incredibly poorly run 1st marathon (Edinburgh). Running kinda sucked, I really wasn’t cut out for this! So what do you do? I know lets start entering Ultras!

It took about 2/3 years before I actually started to enjoy running, then as time went on, the obsession grew.

  • Marathons - Edinburgh, Loch Ness, London, Fort William & The Dramathon

    Ultra Marathons:

    Glenmore 24 (12hr)

    The Wall

    Glen Ogle 33 (twice)

    The Highland Fling (3 times)

    The Great Glen Ultra

    Grand Tour of Skiddaw

    CCC (Courmayeur/Champex/Chamonix) (twice)

    Ring o’ Fire

    South Downs Way 100

    Lairig Ghru Race

The Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee
